The Joy Ride

(The Count-it-all-JOY-ride)

By Vicki Feinn, June 22, 2006

I know You have compassion Lord-

You promise in Your word

That if I will seek Your face

And follow what I heard,

That You will hear from heaven

And You’ll shake hell’s very gate,

For though You’re seldom early,

I know You’re never late.

You show up with Your power

And You change my circumstance.

And then You wink at me and smile, and You heal me with that glance.

As You slip my hand in Your hand,

And You call me to Your throne,

You say, “Come and sit with Me this day-

Come off with Me alone.

Stop looking at the scenery that makes your heart lurch with fear

And come up on My lap and let Me draw you near.

I know all about your Joy Ride,

For I’m the ONE who started it,

And it wasn’t for your harm or end,

But for the glory that I get.

I make beauty out of ashes,

I make a stream where there was none.

And when you finally get to see Me,

When all of time is done…

You’ll know it’s Me who’s calling

And to Me you’ll gladly run.

In fact, you’ll look behind you-

To this old life, and say, “oh, Jesus, that sure was fun!”

I know sweetheart, this journey,

At this moment is so rough,

But I always give new mercy

And a backpack full of stuff…

That is exactly what you need today

And sometimes has a treat-

But you only get to have it if My water and bread you eat.

You’ve learned that fact already,

That when you set the trial at My feet,

And you crawl up in My lap,

And you sniff My smell so sweet-

I rub your back and I take the care you carried in with you,

And I whisper your name, and I give you My peace

As I tell you what I will do.

So come and drink from My living well,

And eat My manna this day

So the journey we’ll take won’t seem so hard, as I remind you,

I AM THE WAY.”

Jeremiah 29:11  “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans for a FUTURE and a hope.”
