So many times I have wanted to help my husband with the many pressures and frustrations that are a part of my husband's every day life. Now understand, my husband is not a complainer, nor is he a naturally frustrated person. In fact, in his case, it could be said that he is just the opposite. He is usually a very positive and happy guy. But in those moments when life is just plain LIFE...I always wish I could do something that will help.
In 2002, I started praying about that longing. God's answer came back that I really need to take all those moments of stress, frustration or whatever to HIM. I realized there is no other name under heaven that could really help my husband like GOD can. This realization developed my idea for a "TAKE HIM TO THE TOP" prayer group for wives. We now call the group "Gap Sisters" as we are Christian sisters who "stand in the gap" for each other. GAP stands for "GOD ANSWERS PRAYER".
We meet Sundays at Southeast Christian Church in room wc255. The time is 10:15- 10:45am.
This group is just a praying group. We have recently added the element of a Bible study after the prayer session. Currently we are studying The Prayer That Changes Everything by Stormie OMartian. I also highly recommend using the book called The Power of a Praying Wife by Stormie OMartian on your own. Our group focuses on different aspects of our husband's life, many of which are in her book. I highly recommend this book for women to pray through whether or not you can meet with my group or not.
If you would like to email me about how to start a "Gap Sisters" group of your own, you can email me at: vicki@bestmomintheuniverse.com. PLEASE put in the subject line: Gap Sisters so I will respond because I delete everything from unfamiliar email addresses.
Also, if you are running the race of your spiritual life without a group to support you, pray the Lord will give you even ONE Gap Sister that will pray with you faithfully. It is not impossible but you sure are open to attack by satan when you are the only one praying for your husband. Read Ecc. 4:9-13 to see what I am talking about. And no matter what, DO NOT GIVE UP because it is not our prayers that are changing things, it is the Almighty, GOD OF THE UNIVERSE who is changing things and He does not NEED our prayers, He simply gives us the blessing of bringing concerns to Him and then enjoys our company when we come into His presence. Prayer is the way the Lord Jesus allows us to "partner" with Him.
